Additionally, laboratories are maintained at all Abbott Nutrition manufacturing sites around the globe. All our facilities are equipped with state of-the-art analytical testing and data processing capabilities. Abbott Nutrition’s Global Analytical Research Facilities are dedicated to developing innovative methodologies relative to nutritional analysis. Abbott Nutrition is a respected leader in the field of nutritional analysis as demonstrated by the following activities:
- Working closely with the National Institute for Nutrition and Food Safety (NINFS) and the Chinese Center for Disease Control and Prevention to provide scientific and technical support for developing policy, law, standards, and regulations on nutrition and for food safety.
- Collaborating with the National Dairy Testing Center (NDTC) to help the Chinese government in its mobilization effort to revise its nutrient analysis methods for infant formulas.
- Sponsoring and leading efforts within the infant formula industry to help modernize nutrient analysis methods for infant and adult nutritionals. Workgroups on carbohydrates/sugars, fat-soluble vitamins/water-soluble vitamins, major and minor trace minerals, proteins/amino acids, total fats/fatty acids, "orphan" nutrients, sampling, and best practices were formed at the AOAC International Annual Meeting in Dallas, Texas, USA, in September 2008 to address key issues.
