2nd Hospital Nutrition State of the Art Summit 2011 This Summit highlighted the prevalence of global malnutrition, and recognized best practices for hospital nutritional care around the world to improve patient outcomes, hospital performance, and lower healthcare costs.
Over 53 hospital leadership teams consisting of physicians, nutritionists and administrators representing nearly 20 hospitals from 10 nations gathered together to compare practices and determine viable solutions to tackle this healthcare challenge. By implementing universal nutrition screening, nutrition assessment tools and progressive nutrition plans, hospitals can develop nutrition centers of excellence to benefit patient care.
Engagement initiatives like this Hospital Nutrition Summit provide healthcare decision-makers with the opportunity to learn from Centers of Excellence while working to eliminate malnutrition in hospitalized patients, long-term care settings and communities. Nutritional intervention is key to comprehensive health care.
