Bio:
Dr. Barry Rosen is currently the Vice President, Medical Management at Advocate Good Shepherd Hospital, a position he has held since 1998. In addition, Dr. Rosen is a board certified general surgeon at Advanced Surgical Care of Northern Illinois, and has been in private practice since completing his surgical residency at Michael Reese Hospital and the University of Illinois in 1992. Dr. Rosen received his medical degree from Northwestern University Medical School, after graduating magna cum laude from the University of Illinois with a Bachelor of Science, Biology and Psychology. Dr. Rosen’s areas of interest include health care policy and reform, breast cancer diagnosis and treatment, and minimally invasive surgery.

Bio:
Dr. PJ Maddox is a Professor and Chair of Health Administration and Policy at George Mason University and former Deputy Director of the GMU Center for Health Policy Research and Ethics. Prior to GMU, she worked at the National Institutes of Health where she served as Deputy Director of the Clinical Center and Nursing Service Chief for numerous institutes. She has held management and academic teaching appointments in a variety of Universities and Academic Medical Centers throughout the US (Saint Mary's Hospital, Reno, NV, Peter Bent Brigham Hospital, Boston, MA, University of California Medical Center, San Francisco, CA, and INOVA Fairfax Hospital, Fairfax, VA). Dr. Maddox earned her EdD in Health Administration, from the Teachers College, Columbia University, her MSN from Catholic University of America, and her BSN, Cum Laude, from the University of Nevada.

Bio:
Dr. Frank possesses a Master’s degree in Nutrition & Dietetics, a Master of Public Health (MPH) in Epidemiology and a Doctorate degree in Exercise Physiology & Health Promotion. She is owner and sole proprietor of Frank Nutrition & Exercise Consulting, LLC. Currently, she is a Clinical Assistant Professor in the College of Pharmacy, Nutrition and Exercise Program (NEP) for Washington State University. Dr. Frank is a Registered Dietitian, clinical preceptor & Director of Clinical Sites for NEP’s Coordinated Program in Dietetics. She is an active member of the American Society for Parenteral and Enteral Nutrition (ASPEN) as well as the American Society for Metabolic and Bariatric Surgery (ASMBS). Dr. Frank’s area of expertise focuses on the roles of exercise and nutrition in the attenuation of disordered glucose metabolism, inflammation & chronic diseases. She has served as an expert medical consultant in bariatric surgery nutrition and has published several papers and/or book chapters on the role of nutrition and/or exercise in improving insulin resistance and metabolic risk variables. As a clinical dietitian and exercise physiologist, Dr. Frank practices and endorses Nutrition Focused Physical Assessment (NFPA) as part of the Nutrition Care Process in order to recognize, prevent or treat malnutrition and sarcopenic obesity. Her current research focus is the role of nutrition & exercise to improve lean body mass and functional capacity among at-risk patients including the inactive, older, malnourished adult.
