Robert Kushner, MD

Professor of Medicine at Northwestern University, Feinberg School of Medicine
Clinical Director of the Northwestern Comprehensive Center on Obesity, and Medical Director for the Center for Lifestyle Medicine in Chicago

Dr. Robert Kushner, MD, is Professor of Medicine at Northwestern University, Feinberg School of Medicine, Clinical Director of the Northwestern Comprehensive Center on Obesity, and Medical Director for the Center for Lifestyle Medicine in Chicago. He received his medical degree from the University of Illinois. After finishing a residency in Internal Medicine at Northwestern University, he went on to complete a post-graduate fellowship in Clinical Nutrition and earned a master’s degree in Clinical Nutrition and Nutritional Biology from the University of Chicago. Dr. Kushner is past president of The Obesity Society (TOS), the American Society for Parenteral and Enteral Nutrition (ASPEN), and the American Board of Physician Nutrition Specialists (ABPNS). His most recent book, Counseling Overweight Adults: The Lifestyle Patterns Approach and Tool Kit, was published in August 2009 by the American Dietetic Association.

Erin McCarthy, MS, RD, LDN

Registered Dietitian at Northwestern Medical Faculty Foundation in Chicago

Erin McCarthy, MS, RD, LDN, is a Registered Dietitian at Northwestern Medical Faculty Foundation in Chicago. She received her undergraduate degree in Nutrition from the University of Illinois. She completed her dietetic internship and master’s degree from Rush University Medical Center. She has worked inpatient at Resurrection Medical Center and then went on to be the bariatric dietitian at Mercy Hospital and Medical Center in Chicago. Ms. McCarthy was Bariatric Ambassador for Morrison Management Specialists and is a member of the American Dietetic Association, American Society for Metabolic and Bariatric Surgery, as well as International Diet and Exercise Association. Ms. McCarthy is certified in weight management for adults via the American Dietetic Association. She is also a certified group fitness instructor through the American Council on Exercise.

Kirsten Webb, BSN, FNP, CDE

Family Nurse Practitioner and Certified Diabetes Educator for the Center for Lifestyle Medicine at Northwestern Medical Faculty Foundation

Kirsten Webb, BSN, FNP, CDE, is a Family Nurse Practitioner and Certified Diabetes Educator for the Center for Lifestyle Medicine at Northwestern Medical Faculty Foundation. Ms. Webb received undergraduate degrees in biology from Indiana University, Bloomington, bachelor’s of science in nursing from University of Cincinnati, and earned her master’s degree in nursing from Loyola University, Chicago. Ms. Webb worked as a family nurse practitioner at University of Illinois, Chicago, in the Nutrition and Wellness Center before joining the Center for Lifestyle Medicine team in early 2009. Ms. Webb’s clinical experience is in the management of weight loss and diabetic patients, both in pediatric and adult populations.
