Oral nutritional supplements (ONS) can help restore growth and improve growth parameters in children with shortfalls associated with undernutrition. A recently published systemic review and meta-analysis summarized the effects of ONS on catch-up growth for 9-month to 12-year-old children with undernutrition. Eleven randomized controlled trials were included in the meta-analysis representing 2,287 children with mild to moderate malnutrition. The outcomes analyzed were changes in height, weight, body mass index, age and sex-specific Z-scores and percentiles.
