This year’s research conference featured a faculty of world-renowned experts who summarized state-of-the-art evidence on the role of carbohydrates through the life cycle and across tissues. The program included presentations on carbohydrates for healthy fetal development; healthy growth of infants, toddlers, children, and adolescents; physical performance; brain function; and adult weight management. Researchers also discussed the role of dietary patterns and snacking in health and disease.
Topics additionally included the latest research and guidelines around management of gestational diabetes; metabolic flexibility in energy substrate oxidation across key tissues; and next generation, food challenge responsive biomarkers for health status.
We offer the proceedings from this research conference to present the most recent global research on carbohydrates that may benefit clinical practice to improve health and prevent chronic diseases.
