Course Description:

In this UK hosted course, Gemma Renshaw, BSc (Hons), RD will describe the dietary management of common childhood cancers; identify practical dietary interventions for managing side effects and symptoms associated with childhood cancers; and assess dietary considerations when managing paediatric oncology patients in the community. Originally presented as a live webinar on March 17, 2021.

Gemma Renshaw leads the dietetic team at Great Ormond Street Hospital (GOSH) specializing in pediatric hematology, oncology, and bone marrow transplant. She has worked at GOSH for over 10 years with most of those years working in the field of childhood cancer. Gemma also chairs a group of allied health professionals working in this area at a national level to encourage research and collaboration and is a member of the international group for nutrition in cancer in children in high-income countries, working on standardizing nutritional care.

Rebecca Stevenson has served as the medical director of Abbott Nutrition UK since 2016. She has an extensive background in clinical nutrition working as a pediatric dietitian specializing in liver, gastroenterology, neonatology, allergy, and general pediatrics at Kings College Hospital Trust, Royal London Hospital, UCLH. Additionally, she has worked as a pediatric and sports nutrition dietitian in her own consultant business for several years prior to joining Abbott. She is a member of the British Dietetic Association and served on the research committee for 3 years. Volunteer experience includes serving as a volunteer mentor for Chiva Africa as a member of the interdisciplinary team in Zwa-Zulu Natal, South Africa for HIV anti-retroviral rollout education.
