Helen Howells qualified from Southampton University in 2005. After rotating through several hospital posts, she undertook GP training and completed this in 2015. Since then she has been working as a portfolio GP – working for the out of hours service, streaming service and is part of her local frailty team.
Dr Howells became interested in allergy due to her own experiences of managing a child with milk and nut allergies. As a result, she commenced the MSc in Allergy at Southampton University and completed her studies in 2018. Dr Howells has been working with the pediatric allergy team at the University Hospital of Southampton for the last three and a half years.
Dr Howells is the Chairperson of the primary care group of the British Society for Allergy and Clinical Immunology (BSACI) and spends a great deal of her free time running allergy education sessions for primary care staff, including organizing allergy study days for the Wessex LMC.
