Michelle Schneider, MS, RDN, and Laura Andromalos, MS, RN, RDN, CSOWM, CDCES, will discuss the concepts of weight stigma and the obesity paradox; how to identify malnutrition in the critically ill patient with obesity; identify the key considerations in conducting NFPE for critically ill patients with obesity; and demonstrate how to interpret clinical findings and examine NFPE techniques to determine micronutrient deficiencies and diagnose malnutrition in critically ill obese patients.
