STEPHEN KOESTERS, MD, MBA, FAAP, FACP

General Internal Medicine
The Ohio State University
Wexner Medical Center

Dr. Stephen Koesters grew up in Dayton, Ohio and earned a bachelor’s degree in Biology at the University of Dayton. He completed medical school at The Ohio State University College of Medicine and remained in Columbus to pursue a dual residency in Internal Medicine and Pediatrics.

His clinical career as an academic primary care physician has included inpatient and outpatient medicine, teaching in residency clinics, medical and resident education, medical student and resident lectures, medical student and resident precepting, educational broadcasts, webinars, and podcasts. He served as Lead Physician for his clinical site for 10 years, guiding his site through the transition from paper charts to an electronic medical record. He has led and participated in numerous quality improvement initiatives as our health care system has evolved from fee-for-service care to value-based care.

More recently, he took on the challenge of starting an academic Internal Medicine & Pediatrics practice at a new location. He enjoys treating a diverse population of patients of all ages and has a strong interest in working with his patients and families to develop strategies to promote long term health. He has been awarded numerous patient satisfaction awards as well as a teaching award from the medical school.

He became inspired to help reshape the medical system after he struggled to help his mother navigate the health care system during her decade long struggle with Alzheimer’s disease. He returned to school to complete his Master of Business Administration in 2018 and ultimately founded Help Find a Doctor, Inc, which seeks to streamline the process of how patients connect with health systems and health plans through reinvention of the patient-provider matching process. While he continues to practice medicine full time, he continues to work on this start up as his passion project and hopes to see it continue to grow.
