Screening and Assessment for Sarcopenia in Clinical Practice

Publish Date: March 2017
Author(s): Tiffany DeWitt, MS, MBA, RD, LD

Abstract:

As we age, we lose muscle mass and function, which may lead to a progressive syndrome known as sarcopenia. Clinicians can help patients minimize the loss of muscle strength and function that occurs with age with nutrition intervention and exercise, thus helping lower the risk for sarcopenia, frailty, disability, injuries, and hospitalization.
