In this video, Jay Shubrook, DO, FAAFP, FACOFP, will review the methods of screening and early diagnosis of type 2 diabetes in community-dwelling individuals; describe the benefits of point-of-care testing for people in need, but without access to laboratories; and discuss how diabetes education is incorporated into community-based diabetes programs.

Dr Jay Shubrook is a diabetologist and family physician in Vacaville, California. He serves as professor and interim chair of the Department of Clinical Sciences and Community Health at the Touro University California College of Osteopathic Medicine. He also serves as the director of Diabetes Services.
