Abstract:

Undernutrition, or malnutrition, is common in people over 60 years of age. In the Integrated Care for Older People (ICOPE) Guidelines, one of the thirteen recommendations to manage declines in intrinsic capacity in older people is to provide oral supplemental nutrition with dietary advice. The evidence profile for malnutrition covers the scoping question “does oral nutritional supplement, dietary advice or mealtime enhancement produce any benefit for older people at risk of undernutrition or who are affected by undernutrition?” The malnutrition profile includes an evidence review and a summary of how the evidence was transformed into recommendations.
