In this course, you’ll learn about continuous glucose monitoring (CGM) reports; discuss the value of real-time glucose trend information; review best practice tips for clinicians; and review examples of how CGM reports can guide patient action.Course Objectives:
- Review the utility of different continuous glucose monitoring (CGM) reports to provide glucose pattern recognition and aid in appropriate therapy and lifestyle decisions.
- Discuss the value of real-time glucose trend information to the patient in making daily decisions to improve glycemic outcomes.
- Provide best practice tips for clinicians to educate patients on use of CGM information and achieve patient engagement in shared decision making.
- Explain what data is visualized in the ambulatory glucose standardized report and provide examples on how this view may guide actionable insights.

Dr. Richard Bergenstal is the Executive Director of the International Diabetes Center at Park Nicollet in Minneapolis, MN and Clinical Professor for the Department of Medicine at the University of Minnesota. Bergenstal graduated with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Chemistry from the University of Florida and earned his medical degree and did his endocrinology fellowship at the University of Chicago Pritzker School of Medicine. He is board certified in Internal Medicine and Endocrinology. Bergenstal has served on the American Diabetes Association’s (ADA) national Board of Directors as well as the Scientific Sessions Planning, Programs, and Government Relations committees. Bergenstal has dedicated more than 30 years of his career to making life better for people with diabetes by focusing on patient-centered team care and clinical research exploring the link between glucose control and diabetes complications. His most recent efforts have focused on translating new research and education findings into practice.

Davida F. Kruger has been a Certified Nurse Practitioner in diabetes for more than 30 years at Henry Ford Health System in Detroit, MI. Her role includes both clinical practice and research. She is Board Certified by the American Nurses Association Credentialing Center in Primary Care and by the American Association of Diabetes Educators in Advanced Diabetes Management. She is the past Chair of the American Diabetes Associations Research Foundation and has served on the American Diabetes Association's Research Policy Committee. Ms. Kruger is also a Past President, Health Care and Education of the American Diabetes Association. She served as editor of Diabetes Spectrum from 2005-2008. Presently, she serves as the Editor-In-Chief of Clinical Diabetes. Ms. Kruger has been a principal investigator on numerous research projects and has written widely on diabetes care, authoring the book The Diabetes Travel Guide 2nd edition (2006).

George Grunberger, received his B.A. (biochemistry) from Columbia College of Columbia University (New York City), M.D. from New York University School of Medicine (New York City), internal medicine training at Case Western Reserve University in Cleveland, Ohio and Endocrinology/Metabolism training in the Diabetes Branch at the National Institutes of Health in Bethesda, Maryland where he then stayed as senior investigator. Between 1986 and 2002 he established and then directed the Comprehensive Diabetes Programs at both the Detroit Medical Center and Wayne State University School of Medicine. Early in his career, Dr. Grunberger saw the need for a comprehensive diabetes treatment facility where persons with diabetes could receive specialized care and address the many facets of their disease. The Grunberger Diabetes Institute, established in 2002, is the result of his vision.
