Andrea Rodriguez-Martinez, PhD

Dr Rodriguez-Martinez is a Research Associate in Population Health in the Global Environmental Health research group. Her current research projects focus on analysing the past, current, or expected future levels and trends in population health, with a particular emphasis on non-communicable diseases (NCDs).

She is also interested in innovative solutions for global health problems. In 2017, she co-founded Momoby, a startup company that aims to bring antenatal healthcare to isolated areas from low-income countries. This project has been awarded a number of prizes in national and international innovation competitions, including: IDea Incubator San Francisco 2018 (3rd Prize); Venture Catalyst Challenge 2018 (1st Prize); Althea-Imperial Innovation Program 2017 (2nd Prize); I3S-Hovione Capital Innovation Prize 2017 (finalist); Hello Tomorrow Challenge 2017 (shortlisted).

Dr Rodriguez-Martinez holds a BSc degree in Biotechnology from the University of Salamanca (Spain) and an MRes degree in Biomedical Research from Imperial College. Her PhD was funded by three independent PhD studentships from Imperial College, the Medical Research Council, and La Caixa Foundation.
