In this course, Francisco Tarazona, MD, will identify the prevalence of type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM) and associated geriatric syndromes in older adults; describe the management of T2DM; and discuss the key components of the nutritional approach for patients with T2DM. Dr Francisco José Tarazona Santabalbina is Consultant at the Geriatrics Unit at the University Hospital of La Ribera, Alzira (Valencia), Spain. Dr Tarazano’s research interests include frailty, glycemic control, osteoporosis, and integrated multi-component physical exercise in older adults. A member of the Spanish Society of Geriatrics and Gerontology (SEGG) and the European Geriatric Medicine Society (EUGMS), Dr Tarazona is a regular speaker at scientific meetings as well reviewer of several scientific journals.
