In this video, Carla Prado, PhD, RD, discusses the importance of lean body mass (LBM) in predicting clinical outcomes; and reviews the role of LBM vs body mass index (BMI) as markers for nutritional status, and identifying risk for complications and prognostic outcomes. She also discusses the obesity paradox in light of recent evidence on the risks associated with low LBM.
