Course Description:

In this course, Jamie Bevan, RD, MSc will describe the key considerations of setting up a prehabilitation service, identify some key barriers and challenges faced when setting up a service, explain the relevance of evidence-based in guiding decisions, recognise the importance of appropriate outcome measures in achieving success, and describe the use of service evaluation and service improvement in developing services. Jamie Bevan, RD, MSc

Cancer Prehabilitation Lead Dietitian 
Cardiff, Wales, UK
Jamie is a Cancer Prehabilitation Lead Dietitian working in Cardiff and Vale UHB. She supports patients from the point of high suspicion of cancer, up until the start of their treatment, to optimise their nutritional status and improve their quality of life. Jamie graduated from Cardiff Metropolitan University with a postgraduate diploma in dietetics in 2015. She has since completed her MSc with a dissertation on the prevalence of malnutrition in gynaecological cancer. Throughout her career, she has developed a breadth of knowledge of nutrition in cancer by working in various specialist cancer services. In her current role, she has successfully led the development of the dietetic service within the newly funded Cancer Prehabilitation programme which started in 2021. She regularly presents on the topic of nutrition in cancer prehabilitation both locally and nationally. Jamie is an active member of the British Dietetic Association Oncology Specialist group and sits on the committee of the Prehabilitation sub-group.
