Ardythe Morrow, PhD
Dr. Ardythe Morrow earned her Master of Science in nutrition from the University of the West Indies in Kingston, Jamaica. While at the University of the West Indies, Dr. Morrow studied infant nutrition and child health. Dr. Morrow completed her Doctor of Philosophy from the University of Texas at Houston in epidemiology. Following her graduate and postgraduate training, Dr. Morrow has written more than 160 publications on infant nutrition and child health and is regarded as a leading expert in human milk composition. Over her career, Dr. Morrow has published extensively on breastfeeding promotion and human milk protection against infectious disease. She has been awarded more than $25 million in grants from NIH, CDC, industry, and foundations and has served as President of the International Society for Research in human milk and lactation. Currently, Dr. Morrow is the Director at the Centre for Interdisciplinary Research in Human Milk and Lactation Global Health Centre. Additionally, Dr. Morrow serves as a Professor of Pediatrics at Cincinnati Children’s Hospital Medical Centre where she founded and directs the Centre for Epidemiology and Biostatistics.
Lars Bode, PhD
Lars Bode is Professor of Paediatrics in the Division of Neonatology and the Division of Gastroenterology, Hepatology and Nutrition, the Larsson-Rosenquist Chair of Collaborative Human Milk Research, and Director of the Larsson-Rosenquist Foundation Mother-Milk-Infant Center of Research Excellence (MOMI CORE) at the University of California, San Diego.
Dr. Bode received both his Master of Science and PhD degree in Nutritional Sciences from the Justus-Liebig University Giessen, Germany and completed a pre-doctoral fellowship at the Institute of Child Health, University College London, United Kingdom. Following a postdoctoral fellowship at the Sanford Burnham Prebys Medical Discovery Institute in La Jolla, California, Dr. Bode joined the University of California, San Diego, where he is now leading a research program dedicated to investigating human milk oligosaccharide biosynthesis and functions with potential benefits for infant and adult health.
Dr. Bode is the recipient of the 2012 Ehrlich-Koldovsky Award from the International Society for Research in Human Milk and Lactation, the recipient of the 2013 Norman Kretchmer Memorial Award in Nutrition and Development from the American Society for Nutrition, and the 2014 Bio Serv Award in Experimental Animal Nutrition from the American Society for Nutrition.
